About Us
Founded in 2018, what started as homemade hot sauce, shared with friends at BBQs and social gatherings, quickly turned into a journey inspired by hot sauce from around the globe. I launched Encanta (love in Spanish), after my love of growing chillies and an ode to my wife’s Mexican heritage. Mexico is where I first began my love affair with hot sauce.
Our philosophy is simple: Flavour over heat and no gimmicks. We create everyday hot sauces that elevate any occasion.
After appearing on an episode of the BBC’s Nadiya’s Family Favourites which has now had multiple reruns on the BBC’s Saturday Morning Kitchen it sparked something far bigger than I ever imagined. However, Encanta’s core remains the same: a passion for growing chilies and the joy of crafting everyday hot sauces.
Fermentation
All of our chilies are carefully selected and fermented before they become the heart of our sauces.
We Lacto-ferment the chilli's until the process is complete and the chillis have started to break down.
Once fermented we make a chili mash, which serves as the foundation for every flavour we craft. Once blended with other ingredients, this process brings out the full depth and complex taste of the chilies we use.
